3.2.1 Institution has created an ecosystem for innovations and has initiatives for creation and transfer of knowledge
Response:
Indira Gandhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences has developed a comprehensive ecosystem for innovation and advancement in the pharmacy field by inculcating, development of skills & promoting research. The key components of this ecosystem include innovation infrastructure, knowledge creation & research, knowledge transfer mechanisms, and digital & virtual initiatives.
The institute encourages creation and knowledge transfer by establishing MoUs with external Agencies. The institute has a Research and Development Cell which encourages the faculty members to carry out minor and major research projects using existing facilities. The Institute has a team of faculty members, including 01 with D.Sc., 14 with Ph.D. and others with M. Pharm qualification. Some of the faculty members with M. Pharm qualification are pursuing Ph.D. degree. Faculty members have maintained the track record of providing consultancies and expert guidance to academia across the country. The research activities at the institute have supported budding researchers to undertake novel research projects for their prototype project proposals. This has resulted in filing of around more than 200 research publications, few books and book chapters.
Entrepreneurship and Start Up Cell: The institute through its Entrepreneurship and Start Up Cell encourages entrepreneurship pursuits. The cell aims at creation and transfer of knowledge and innovative ideas to industries and business establishments.
Research & Development Cell: The Cell encourages faculty and students to undertake research, publish papers, and file patents, often supported by workshops on research methodology and IPR.
Institutional Innovation Council (IIC): The IIC has been established to foster innovation through brainstorming, ideation, and conducting workshops, seminars, and hackathons.
Industry-Academia Interface: The institute through its industry-academia interface collaborates with industry experts for consultancy work, internships, and developing products that address real-world problems.
Knowledge Transfer Mechanisms: The institute organizes seminars, conferences, expert lectures, workshops on IPR, and industry-academia collaborations that facilitate the dissemination of knowledge within and outside the institution.
Digital & Virtual Initiatives:
The digital and virtual initiatives are taken through use of virtual labs, simulation software (e.g., Ex-pharm), and digital platforms for continuous learning.
3.4.1 Extension activities are carried out in the neighborhood community, sensitizing students to social issues, for their holistic development, and impact thereof during the last five years.
Response:
Indira Gandhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IGIPS) inculcates social responsibility among its faculty and students through various outreach programs and NSS activities. "Serve While You Learn" is the motto which drives IGIPS towards various extension activities. The institute provides community services in rural and urban areas through various co-curricular and extension programs through its own foundation called Sewa Club.
The institute renders humanitarian services to the neighboring community by associating with various welfare organizations such as NSS, NCC, Red Cross Society, NGOs, Municipality, Gram Panchayat, hospitals, local government bodies, etc. to promote health and basic needs.
The collective effort of the NSS unit, women empowerment cell, and all the departments of the institute is showcased in the following events:
