Infrastructure and Learning Resources
The institute has a noise free campus and is situated at the picturesque Chandaka Sanctuary. The institute's strong infrastructure includes a 5-storey cubic building on 3 acres of total 5 acres of campus area. The institute building houses ___ no. of well-furnished lecture halls with LCD/Wi-Fi, _____ no. of well-equipped laboratories with sophisticated equipment and instruments, a library, a reading room, student academic management system(SAMS), a computer lab, a central facility for students activities, a seminar hall for seminars, conferences, workshops, etc., sanitary facilities, lavatories, common rooms for boys, girls, and staffs. The institute has a wide open area in its front for annual functions and others such as co-curricular / extracurricular activities, outdoor sports, etc. While institute's campus hostel for boys is annexed to its rear end, the college canteen situated in a corner of its front area. The sides of the front area are used for parking of vehicles by students and staffs. The institute's total premises are regularly maintained by full time sweepers and cleaners and guarded round the clock by regular watchmen.
The library is well maintained and updated by the librarian, assistant librarian and library staff. There are more than 13,000 no. of books. The reading room contains the e-library and a magazine stand which is adorned with various magazines, periodicals, journals and daily newspapers, for the students to read. The library uses fully automated software e-Granthalaya version-3.0 and is stored with ____ no. of books and ___ no. of titles, national and international journals, e-journal subscription from Elsevier, DELNET and Bentham Science. The institute has registered on SWAYAM & National Digital Library. The library offers different services like books lending, book bank, reprographic, plagiarism checking, etc. There is the photocopy facility inside the library.
Being in the heart of India's first smart city Bhubaneswar, the state capital, there is little or no power cut. However, the institute has its own power backup system to ensure power supply as and when required for teaching-learning and other academic and administrative purposes. The fire fighting systems have been installed ensuring the safety of the students and staffs. The central instrumentation room has sophisticated instruments like HPLC, FTIR, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, etc. The machine room is equipped with tablet compression machine, all-purpose equipment, Ball Mill, Dissolution apparatus, Homogenizer, etc. SOPs and log books are available to ensure proper use of machines, equipment and instruments.
Digitalization is promoted through IT enabled services by biometric system and online examination. Computer laboratories are integrated with invigilated access to the internet and undergo full maintenance from time to time. The IT related infrastructure development and maintenance is taken care of by the campus level ERP software system. Internet connection with speed of 100MBPS is provided.
Student Support and Progression
The institute has and always tends on a healthy and highly supportive environment for the holistic development of the students. Throughout their study, the students are provided all kinds of support necessary for keeping of their best physical and mental health and development of their academic, scholastic and professional merits.
Every year in the beginning, the institute calendar is published and circulated among the students. The calendar contains the institute rules and regulations, the duties and responsibilities of the students, curricular and co-curricular/extracurricular activities, the faculty and their departments, the names of proctors for different classes, holidays, time table, library provisions and so on.
Every year the institute conducts various co-curricular / extracurricular activities inside the campus and help the students participate in such inter-college, state or national level activities outside. The cultural and sports committee of the institute organizes and promotes the events in such interest of the students. The institute publishes its annual magazine and also has a wall magazine which is published regularly. The editorial board picks the best articles quarterly and get them published in the institute's annual magazine. Academically, in the semester examinations, the average student secures higher grade. Some students secure even more than 9 GPA.
The career counseling cell of the institute regularly provides the students information about the emerging job opportunities and guides them for placement and higher study. There are display boards like one for placement opportunities on the entrance walls to provide latest information in various relevant regards. Seminars, conferences, workshops and training sessions are arranged and experts are invited every year to groom up the students with employability skills such as communication skills, professional virtues, leadership skills, entrepreneurship skills, personality, human values, etc. The institute arranges tutorial classes and provides coaching for GPAT, PGAT and various other competitive/entrance examinations. Significant days like World Pharmacist Day, National Pharmacy Week, Library Day, World Health Day, etc. are observed every year with full students participation.
The institute has a proctoral cell where each proctor is assigned the responsibility of looking after the wellbeing of the students of one class. The mentor-mentee system ensures not a single student suffers anyway. The grievance redressal cell looks into the problems of the students and resolve the issues in a time-bound manner. The anti-ragging committee is there to provide protection to the freshers and other vulnerable students. Happily there is not any incident of ragging in the history of the institute. There is also the women's protection committee to look after the grievances of the girl students/women staff and remedy them. The alumni cell provides placement facility to the graduating students as well as financial contribution to the institute in different student-centric programs, beside cooperating with guest lectures, collaborative research, industrial internship, etc.
The institute promotes a healthy and cordial relationship between the students and the staff. Tuition fee waiver as per the government policies, state and central scholarships, and other student benifits are fast facilitated. From mentors to proctors to teachers to officials to other employees all cooperate with the students and support them in completing their study successfully.
Governance, Leadership and Management
IGIPS is a private institution and is managed by its own Governing Body. Recruitment of staffs, budgeting, auditing, resource mobilization and its effective utilization, financial management, etc. follow the principles as set by the GB which is composed of personalities who are well-educated and well-versed in relevant fields. All important decisions regarding academic, administrative and financial matters are taken in the Governing Body meetings with due consultation with the Principal, the Director, the committees and the staff members. The IQAC which is instrumental for many developmental decisions of the institute takes stock of the situation periodically and suggests measures for improvement of qualities and remedies if found any problems.
The Management of the institute has adopted some welfare measures like EPF facility, employee group insurance, gratuity, etc. for the employees.
The departmental meetings are held by the schedule in the presence of the Director, the Principal and respective HoDs, where the departments are assessed for their academic progress, attendance records, parts of the syllabus covered, research activities, tutorials, assignments, students performance, etc.
The institute being private does not get funds from outside. It solely depends on the students' tuition fees and very judiciously manages all the expenditure.
The institute regularly organizes faculty development program, orientation program, workshops, seminars, etc. to train teachers and students separately with various objectives including leadership skills, managerial skills, etc. The students are also given representation in the committees with their roles and responsibilities.
Institutional Values and Best Practices
The values of the institute and practices in relation to those values are anchored upon the interests of the students and employees of the institute, fostering global competencies among students and innovating a value system in them, contributing to national development, promoting the use of technology and in the endless quest for excellence. Particularly, the values like honesty, hardwork, morals, integrity, respect, gender equality, responsibility, creativity and innovation, community sense, reliability, consistency, etc. are practiced through observation of national and international days and events, conducting seminars, workshops, etc. and performing activities like spreading awareness against tobacco consumption, diseases, corruption, exploitation, pollution, etc., plantation drives, cleanliness drives, protest marches against crimes, etc., and providing community services like blood donation, vaccination, etc.
The institute has always endeavored to keep and maintain the highest academic, professional and ethical standards and respected the dignity of each student and staff member. Each student and staff member is respected and valued. The institute understands that the quest for learning comes from growth mindset. So the students are supported and encouraged thereby as the institute creates and foster the growth mindset in them.
The committees/cells of the institute have been entrusted with duties and responsibilities to look after and maintain the institutional values. The Governing Body directs, instructs, advises and cooperates with the committees/cells to maintain and promote values. The institute itself reflects the value system. Green campus, green surroundings, plastic free campus, safe and secure campus, noise free campus, proper sanitation, waste management, energy conservation, staff punctuality, students uniformity, clean exterior and interior buildings, CCTV surveillance, study atmosphere, research ambience, etc. are common features that reflect the value system of the institute.
